Explore resources supporting students, educators, and families during Red Ribbon Week 2021, which is being observed October 23-31 and beyond. Through the support of diverse social impact partners, communities across the United States are empowered to help students make healthier choices through flexible, no-cost dynamic digital content. 

Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually each October in the United States. Established in 1985 to honor the memory of Drug Enforcement Agent Enrique (Kiki) Camarena, the Red Ribbon campaign seeks to raise awareness of the destruction caused by drugs in the United States.   

Aligning with the 2021 Red Ribbon Week theme of “Drug Free Looks Like Me™,” the following partnership programs provide proactive strategies and standards-aligned resources supporting the health and wellbeing of students nationwide 

Ask, Listen, Learn, a program of Responsibility.org
Informed students make better decisions. Join?Ask, Listen, Learn?and Discovery Education to uncover the science behind how alcohol affects developing brains, bodies, and behavior. With this content, educators and families can equip students with vital prevention resources and dive deep into the science, data and facts, leading kids to say “YES” to a healthy lifestyle and “NO” to all risky behaviors. 

Join us on Facebook Monday, October 25th at 1 PM ET for the premiere of the Ask, Listen, Learn, a program of Responsibility.org video playlist. This video series is designed to help provide students with the knowledge and tools they need to say “yes” to a healthy lifestyle and “no” to an array of risky behaviors. 

Dose of Knowledge 
As part of CVS Health’s Pharmacists Teach program, Dose of Knowledge offers a suite of no-cost digital resources empowering 3-12 grade students with the facts about prescription and illicit drug misuse, specifically focusing on opioid misuse prevention. The program strives to empower educators and pharmacists to address substance misuse and educate students to make good decisions for the health and well-being of themselves and their community. 

Join a live Q&A session with a CVS Pharmacist on Facebook on Tuesday, October 26th at 1 PM ET to explore the Dose of Knowledge resources and discover the role the community can play in helping students make healthy decisions. 

Be Vape Free
A nationwide initiative for students in grades 5-12 powered by the CVS Health Foundation, CATCH Global Foundation, and Discovery Education, Be Vape Free empowers students with the knowledge and skills needed to resist social and peer pressures to vape. Educators, families, and community partners can discover resources to inform productive conversations with students, while the evidence-based CATCH My Breath program can help schools take a campus-wide approach to address the issue of youth vaping. 

Tune in Wednesday, October 27th at 1 PM ET for a screening of Just the Facts: A Be Vape Free Virtual Field Trip. Get ready for an exciting virtual detective story that lets your students become E-cigarette Sleuths cracking the case of vaping once and for all! 

Operation Prevention
Created in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration, Operation Prevention engages grades 3-12 with the power of prevention. Help kickstart life-saving conversations today with standards-aligned English & Spanish-language resources, plus additional resources designed for educators, families, and professionals. 

Watch the Opioids: Real People. Real Stories. Real Science. Virtual Field Trip on Thursday, October 28th at 1 PM ET. No matter how it begins, recovery from addiction is a struggle. Give middle and high school students the information they need about how addiction can start.

The new Video Topic Series takes STEM from theory to practice, exploring issues like cybersecurity in everyday life and the ways that artificial intelligence can be used for social good.

Siemens STEM Day – Classroom Activities
Designed for students in grades K-12, these classroom activities from Siemens STEM Day – a program from Siemens and Discovery Education – bring science, technology, engineering, and math to life inside and outside the classroom. A new selection of 10 activities empowers students to discover key STEM topics like manufacturing, energy, and information technology.
